Tier Characteristics

Block 9 is home to many of our premier Tier 1 varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Malbec, where slopes and soils bring out exceptional depth, flavor, and complexity. 

Blocks 10 through 12 are planted with Tier 4 Cabernet Sauvignon, producing consistent, expressive fruit. The clay soils and south–north oriented slopes encourage even ripening and concentrated flavors. 

Blocks 13 and 14 carry Tier 5 Cabernet Sauvignon, where the fruit is more restrained yet still expressive. These blocks, planted on well-drained clay and sandy soils.

At the southern end, Block 34 features Tier 6 Cabernet Sauvignon, a planting producing softer, less intense fruit.
